Communication with Campus

Faculty, staff and students who wish to communicate with the campus at large, whether for events, reminders, or announcements, have a wide variety of ways to do so. If you need to release a mass communication, the following methods are available to use. Select one below or view all.

Tech Times

Posts for Tech Times can be submitted at tntech.edu/techtimes. Be sure to read the submission guidelines beforehand, and if you can, include an engaging photo or graphic. The Tech Times email is released Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during the Fall and Spring semesters, so be sure to keep that in mind when deciding when to publish your announcement in Tech Times. Digital Signage

All around campus, there are 100+ digital signage screens which can display graphic announcements. There are two kinds of screens: horizontal and vertical. Graphics for horizontal screens must be sized at 1920x950 at 92ppi, and vertical screens require 1080x1790 at 92ppi. Main Campus Calendar

To submit an event to the main calendar, visit tntech.edu/calendar. Click “Submit Event” and fill out the event submission form to submit your event. If you need assistance, visit the calendar support page. Maintained by the Office of Communications & Marketing

Student Events Page

In addition to the main campus calendar, the Office of Student Engagement maintains a featured web page that lists upcoming students events and featured announcements that promote student engagement. Student organizations and departments that host events for students should submit their events through the student events page. Maintained by Center for Student Engagement.

Social Media

Some announcements may also be delivered via social media such as Twitter or Instagram. Visit tntech.edu/socialmedia for guidelines and official hashtags. If you don’t have a Tech social media account and are interested in having your post appear on official Tech social media accounts, email socialmedia@tntech.edu for assistance. TechExpress

TechExpress is our internal campus portal. Among the many features, faculty and staff can submit announcements that appear in the announcements and messages widget. Depending on the group selected, the owner of the group would approve the message. Additional details are available here and if you have any issues, contact the ITS Helpdesk. Maintained by ITS; campus-wide announcements are approved by the Office of Communications & Marketing

The News & Communication staff work with local and national media contacts to tell Tech's stories. As experienced media and communications professionals, they work to promote a positive image of the university and to share information about the accomplishments of Tennessee Tech students, faculty and staff. The Oracle

The Oracle, Tennessee Tech's student newspaper, is student-operated and publishes six times during the spring and fall semesters. In addition to a printed newspaper, it is also available at tntechoracle.com and digital print edition is available online at Issuu. The Oracle provides anyone the opportunity to advertise in the paper as well; more information can be found here

WTTU

WTTU-88.5 FM, The NEST, is Tennessee Tech University's student radio station and Cookeville's only alternative radio station. It broadcasts across the Cumberland Plateau, 24 hours a day. There are opportunities to have your message heard on the radio! Contact the station for more information

Printing Services

Printing Services, located in the University Services building, offers convenient and affordable printing solutions for a variety of projects. Printing Services is available to students, alumni, faculty, and the public. Several options on campus provide you the ability to display your posters or send cards through campus mail. If you plan to post on a bulletin board, check to make sure it doesn't require approval or it may be taken down.

Campus-Wide Emails & Distribution Lists

ITS maintains several email distribution lists that contain all or certain sub-sets of faculty, staff and/or students. TN Tech Policy No. 1104 dictates the use of these distribution lists that are used to communicate with all employees, students and others for official university business. If you have a need to use a distribution list of any kind, contact the VP or Dean of your department.
