Readmission

If you’ve attended Tennessee Tech in the past, and are now returning, you are considered a readmission student.  Below you’ll find information on the admission requirements for readmission and a step-by-step guide to enrollment.

Admission Requirements

If you left Tennessee Tech on good standing and have not attended any other institution since leaving Tech, you fully meet the admission requirements for readmission and need only submit an application.

What if I attended another school after leaving Tech?

Students who have attended elsewhere after leaving Tennessee Tech must meet the following readmission requirements:

  • 2.00 GPA in your last full-time semester (or your last 12 hours for part-time students) and
  • 2.00 overall GPA since leaving Tennessee Tech

If you were under probation or suspension (academic or disciplinary) at the institutions you attended after leaving Tech, you will not be considered for readmission until a satisfactory statement has been furnished by the former college and approval has been given by Tennessee Tech’s Admissions Review Committee.

What if I was suspended from Tennessee Tech?

If you wish to return after a suspension, you’ll need to do the following:

STEP #1: Reapply at www.tntech.edu/apply

STEP #2: Submit a Readmission After Suspension Form below. If your application is approved, you will return on academic probation.

» Know your TechExpress Login? Readmission After Suspension Form (Faster!)

» Don't know your TechExpress Login? Readmission After Suspension Form

Once both of the steps above are completed and the online form is submitted, the form automatically goes to the Dean of your major for a decision. Once the Dean has issued a decision and signed the form, it is returned to Admissions for processing and then communicated to the student. This is typically a 7-10 business day process but may take additional days if the staff is in between semesters or away from the University.

If you have questions regarding your academic standing or any part of the suspension process, the Office of Admissions is here to help! We’re available at (931) 372-3888 or admissions@tntech.edu

What if I don't meet the minimum requirements for readmission?

If you do not meet these requirements, a more holistic review will be used to evaluate your application for admission. The Admissions Review Committee meets regularly to discuss these on a case-by-case basis. If you would like to submit additional documents for review, such as a letter of appeal and/or a letter of recommendation from an academic advisor or professor, please email these documents to admissions@tntech.edu.

The review process is a non-competitive, holistic, and individualized process where the Review Committee may consider some or all of the following: academic rigor of courses, core course GPA and grade trends; as well as non-cognitive elements such as an applicant’s concept of self, ability to deal with adversity, long-range goals, community involvement, special interests or abilities, leadership, and support structures. Requests for review may be sent to admissions@tntech.edu.
