Sarah Waites
Sarah Waites, a North Carolina native and transfer student from Volunteer State Community College, is a junior elementary education major.
The choice to transfer was seemingly easy for Waites. She credits Tennessee Tech’s education program and professors as a primary factor in her decision.
“Tech is close to home and has an exceptional education program with professors that truly care about the impact of future teachers,” said Waites.
Waites says one of her favorite things about Tech is the campus environment. Not only does she acknowledge the campus scenery, but she also loves the events held on campus.
“I love the beautiful campus and the exciting activities that the college hosts, such as button sales, upcycled clothes inventory, and Heating Up the Quad where I got to sample soups and desserts,” Waites explained.
At Tech, Waites has immersed herself in the community. She is part of the Upper Cumberland Literacy Association. She is also exploring the Student Tennessee Education Association and Tech’s College of Education ambassadors.
Once she got to Tech, there was no turning back. Waites immediately formed many relationships with her peers and professors. She also found support and growth fostered by the education program.
“My resources have grown tremendously to help aid me in my teaching career,” stated Waites.
