Theater Minor

The Theater minor is designed for students who wish to combine their major program of study with courses that promote theatrical techniques. Future teachers, designers, and advertising fields, would benefit from a Theatre Minor, or any profession that requires teamwork and creativity.  At our theater, the Backdoor Playhouse, students can star in a production or help create one.

The University Catalog outlines the curriculum for the Theater Minor.

For further information about becoming a Theater Minor, please contact Dr. Colin Hill at cjhill@tntech.edu.

Theatre Concentration

In the Theatre concentration, students focus on the literary traditions and performance arts that come together in the theatrical experience, preparing students for lifelong engagement with the arts while providing a solid foundation for graduate study or any profession that requires teamwork and creativity.  At our theater, the Backdoor Playhouse, students can star in a production or help create one.

Alpha Psi Omega - Pi Upsilon
National Theatre Honor Society

The Alpha Psi Omega (APO) National Theatre Honor Society was reactivated in the spring of 1993 by members of the Tech Players and faculty advisor Mark Creter. Current members invite interested students to become active in theatre at Tennessee Tech. APO differs from the Tech Players in that actors, technicians and front-of-house personnel will be invited to join the cast of APO if they have strong grades and show a true commitment to the theatre. For further information about Alpha Psi Omega, please contact faculty advisor Mark Creter at mcreter@tntech.edu or visit our website at www.tntech.edu/bdph
