Description: The Cultural Resources Diversity Internship Program (CRDIP) is a professional development internship that introduces students and recent graduates, from backgrounds historically underrepresented in the National Parks, to career opportunities within Cultural Resource Management in the National Park Service. Host sites provide work experiences that assist interns with building their resumes in this field. Weekly living allowance of $680 or $740. Park housing or housing reimbursements provided by host site. Possibility of travel and professional development reimbursements.

Description: ACE's Eastern Crew Region program operates year-round with young adult volunteer AmeriCorps crews completing trail, ecological restoration, historic preservation and conservation field projects throughout the Eastern Region of the US, from the ancient forests of the Appalachian Mountains to the barrier islands on Atlantic Coast and other inspiring landscapes of the Eastern United States, including the Caribbean! As a Project Manager, you will play a crucial role in advancing ACE's core values of safety, professionalism, integrity, flexibility, quality, enthusiasm, dedication, and passion along with ensuring critical project communication, coordination and logistical organization for ACE crew projects in their assigned base location.

Salary: $40,000 annually. Continually hiring for this and similar ACE positions.

Appalachian Voices Community Outreach Coordinator

Description: Appalachian Voices is a nonprofit advocacy organization that works to achieve an Appalachia with healthy, intact ecosystems and advance a just transition to a generative and equitable clean energy economy. Appalachian Voices is seeking a Community Outreach Coordinator to join our fast-paced, dynamic team. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) for an initial four-year period, with the possibility of extension depending on funding availability. We will also consider candidates interested in a part-time position. This is a remote position based in or near West Virginia or Southwest Virginia, with frequent travel within West Virginia, and some travel outside of the Appalachian region. This position will support Appalachian Voices participation in the Environmental Protection Agency’s Region III Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Center (TCTAC) and the Mid Atlantic Environmental Justice Fund (MAEJF) program, which provides resources for urban and rural tree planting and related activity in EPA Region III to advance our goals related to community and environmental revitalization efforts in Central Appalachia. 

Salary: $50,000-$60,000 annually.  For early consideration, candidates shall apply by January 31st, 2025. 

Southern Environmental Law Center (SELC) Virginia Advocacy and Outreach Associate

Description: The Virginia Advocacy & Outreach Associate will report to the Senior Policy and Outreach Manager and will play a critical role in advancing SELC’s mission by supporting advocacy efforts on complex environmental issues through place-based education and partnership engagement activities, strategic coalitions, direct advocacy to state and local decision makers and more. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in field organizing, strategic advocacy campaigns, and direct lobbying. 

Salary: $58,000- $70,000 annually. The initial deadline for receipt of complete applications is January 20, 2025. However, applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

Description: The Office of Sustainable Practices (OSP) is seeking candidates who bring strong creativity and critical thinking skills to an entry-level opportunity with the office. If you are interested in influencing environmental and natural resource practices and programs in Tennessee, this may be a great job for you! The applicant will be able to work across programs and sustainability topics in the first year on the job to build expertise and familiarity with the office’s portfolio of work before eventually assuming a range of independent responsibilities. This is a hybrid position, most of the work week will
occur from home with scheduled weekly days in the Central Office (usually 1-2 days per week).

NEON Field Ecologist - Instrumentation (Entry Level) in Oak Ridge, TN

Description: The Field Ecologist is a technical lead that monitors, performs routine maintenance, field calibrations and corrective maintenance on meteorological; CO2, water, and energy flux; and water quality sensors and instrumentation. The Field Ecologist will provide training and guidance to temporary field crews while working in the field and laboratory. Associates degree in ecology, forestry, environmental sciences, or related scientific discipline AND One (1) year of related experience  OR Two (2) or more years of related experience. Willingness to perform maintenance and field sampling outdoors in sparsely populated, remote locations, with distances ranging from 1/2 hour to 6 hours from the Domain office. Overnight travel, hiking off trail, and wading in water are typical in most locations. Position posted January 2024 and position open until filled.

Entry Level GIS Technician in Chattanooga, TN

Description: The GIS Technician is the first level of a five-level GIS position. Analyzes, manipulates and prepares reports from GIS applications. Creates and updates maps and other cartographic products by gathering and reviewing data, copying data and entering data into the GIS system. Posts work orders, map corrections, and new and modified information. Creates and converts geographic and facilities data for inclusion into GIS. Assists in providing information and assistance to customers regarding a variety of issues which may include supplying initial statistics to potential bidders on City contracts; inputting and communicating contract information to interested parties; coordinating appeal processes; responding to fee change requests; locating and issuing maps and/or performing other related activities.
