New Graduate Student Orientation

Welcome New Tennessee Tech Golden Eagle!

You are invited to attend new graduate student orientation.  Held in-person each August, you will have an opportunity to learn about service and support departments and graduate school expectations.  In addition to a program that covers degree requirements, you will hear from current students about their transition to graduate school and advice that they wish they had known.  After our program, you are invited to meet other graduate students with an informal reception with music and conversation.  The following is the basic agenda for our in-person event which will take place on August 14, 2025 in the Stonecipher Lecture Hall near the Lab Sciences Common Building:

• Optional 'service fair' - this is an opportunity to meet many departments on campus that provide essential services to students.  Departments in attendance will include Health Services, Parking, Housing, Library, Writing Center, Financial Aid, and many more.  This event will take place from 4:00-5:00 in the main foyer of the event space.
• Program - our program will introduce you to the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies and several of our current graduate students.  Facilitators are graduate students who will talk to you about technology and resources that you will need to know about.  The Associate Dean will go over important points from the Graduate Student Handbook.  Topics include GPA, time to degree, and registration.  Our last topic will be advice from a panel of graduate students. The program will begin at 5:00 and last until 6:30.
• Reception - after our formal program, you will have an opportunity to meet other new students in an informal environment.  Food will be provided along with music and conversation.  The reception will take place in the main foyer and immediately outside the entrance of the event space and will end at approximately 7:30.

  If you have been admitted to the summer or fall semester, and you want to attend our in-person new graduate student orientation, click the button below to register.  The event is being held in the Stonecipher Lecture Hall at 5:00 on Thursday, August 14, 2025.  Remember, a campus services fair will be open from 4-5 and you are invited to attend that fair prior to the start of the 5:00 program.

Online Orientation

For those students who are enrolled in an online program, your graduate student orientation will take place online.  You are encouraged to complete the online orientation prior to the start of classes.  The program takes about 45 min - 1 hour.  You will find it informative and interactive.  While no food and conversation is available, you will still find it helpful in your onboarding process.  To access the online orientation, go to the online orientation webpage.
