Mathematics

A degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in Mathematics prepares students to teach at the high school level. The program is offered on-campus and through the 2+2 Program in partnership with Roane State Community College's Oak Ridge campus. The curriculum is designed to provide graduates with a foundation of teaching skills, the use of instructional technology, coupled with in-depth content knowledge in the subject of mathematics. Students in licensure programs also engage in extensive clinical experiences in public schools for hands-on training, professional collaboration, and classroom management. The love of learning, the desire to help others realize their full potential, and the responsibility of preparing students to enter college or the workforce are primary motivators for those who become secondary education majors. Nationally accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
