What is SGA?
Welcome to Tennessee Tech! The Student Government Association (SGA) is here to make your university experience the best it can be. Our mission is to protect your rights, promote your involvement in campus life, and ensure your voice is heard by the university administration. We support a wide range of student activities and encourage personal growth, leadership, and community involvement. Whether it's advocating for your needs or enhancing your college experience, the SGA is dedicated to serving you and making Tennessee Tech a thriving community.
Here are just some of the ways we are promoting positive change at Tech:
- Funding Student Organizations: We manage a significant portion of the student activity fee, allocating funds to registered student organizations. Have a great idea for a club or event? We can help make it happen!
- Campus Improvement Projects: From installing more bike racks to upgrading study spaces, we regularly work with Facilities to enhance your campus experience.
- Academic Advocacy: We've successfully lobbied for extended library hours during finals week and worked with faculty to improve course evaluation processes.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Our Green Fee has funded modern lighting upgrades in university buildings, provided for bottle-fill stations around campus, and expanded recycling programs. We're making Tech greener every day!
- Mental Health Support: We've partnered with the Counseling Center to increase awareness of mental health resources and reduce stigma on campus.
Our commitment is to ensure that every student feels empowered, supported, and heard. Whether you're looking to get involved, share your ideas, or simply enjoy the benefits of our growing campus community, the SGA is here for you.
