Caleb Savage

Caleb Savage, ’18 nursing, had no questions about what he would do after he earned his nursing degree at Tech. He began work at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, the hospital serving his hometown.

“I have to say that my favorite part of nursing is seeing patients I have had at the grocery store or around town,” Savage said. “Seeing my past patients well is what nursing is about for me.”

The Whitson-Hester School of Nursing at Tech has a strong relationship with community help partners and a comprehensive curriculum, so when Savage found himself working as a nurse, he felt prepared.

“Tech’s nursing program is strong and provided me with a start,” Savage said.

In a hospital setting, it can be hard to predict what patients or health issues you will be helping address from one shift to the next, but with his start at Tech, Savage says he is up for the challenge.

“I can go into many situations and know I have seen or dealt with this topic or something like it before,” Savage said. “That’s what Tech did for me, gave me that confidence.”

He also met his wife, an accounting major, and made lifelong friends in his fraternity.

“I enjoyed my time at Tech and everything it provided me."
