Town Halls
Throughout the Fall 2023 semester, the Gen Ed Vision Committee held 27 town halls across campus. More than 200 people participated in the town halls. In addition, when asked, the committee met with individual departments or colleges.
The purpose of the town halls were to discuss what the vision for Tech's general education curriculum should be: what skills and knowledge should a Tennessee Tech graduate have that prepares them not just for their future careers, but their future as informed citizens of the state, region, nation and world.
Comments about gen ed received via the Tech Tomorrow public comment form were also included in the summary below.

Survey
In early 2024, the General Education Vision Committee conducted a survey (developed by the Office of Institutional Assessment, Research & Effectiveness) asking students, faculty, staff, alumni, and industry representatives for their opinions on proposed changes to the General Education Program. This survey was conducted via Qualtrics over the two weeks of 2/26/24-3/8/24.
Students made up the largest population of respondents at nearly 64%. Likewise, the greatest percentage of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and industry representatives came from the College of Engineering at 27.6%.
