Non-Degree Seeking

Not interested in earning a degree? You may be interested in taking a class for personal enrichment, pursuing an add-on endorsement to your teaching license, earning a craft certificate, or completing a prerequisite for a graduate program. Below you’ll find information on the admission requirements and a step-by-step guide to enrollment.

 

Admission Requirements

For guaranteed admission, students must meet the following admission requirements for non-degree seeking students. 

 

Special Non-Degree Seeking Students

If you’re taking a class for personal enrichment or taking a prerequisite for graduate school, you are a Special Non-Degree Seeking student.

For admission to the university, you must:

  • submit an undergraduate application
  • pay the $25 undergraduate application fee

If you’re a disabled or elderly student 65 years of age or older, you may be eligible for discounted tuition and fees. For a full explanation, visit the Bursar’s page at tntech.edu/bursar/tuition/explanation.php.

 

Teaching Licensure

A number of teaching licensure programs are available through our College of Education. The College of Education may have additional requirements for entry into your chosen program. For details, visit tntech.edu/education.

For admission to the university, you must:

  • submit an undergraduate application
  • pay the $25 undergraduate application fee
  • submit official transcripts showing a Bachelor’s degree

 

How to Apply

Ready to become a Golden Eagle? You’ll need to complete three steps in order to be considered for admission: submit an applicationpay your application fee, and submit your documents (if applicable to your program).

 

Step 1: Submit an Application

Fill out our online application at tntech.edu/apply. If you need to make a change to your existing application, please submit an application update form.

 

Step 2: Pay Your Application Fee

Before an application can be reviewed for admission, you must submit your $25 non-refundable undergraduate application fee. Please note that if you have paid the undergraduate application fee in the past, you do not need to do so again. To pay your application fee, log back into the Self-Service Portal at tntech.edu/status.

 

Step 3: Submit Your Documents

If additional documents are required for your program, all official documents can be mailed to:

Transcripts can also be delivered through an approved electronic transcript vendors. Emailed transcripts are not considered official and cannot be used for admission purposes. Electronic transcripts can be sent via:

  • National Student Clearinghouse
  • Parchment
  • Naviance
  • eScript Safe
  • Scribs
  • JST

Submit required documentation to Health Services before being able to register for courses. Information on the University's Immunization Requirements is available here - tntech.edu/healthservices/immunization.php.

 

Step 4 (Upon Admission): Advisement and Registration

Once you’ve been admitted as a non-degree seeking student, you will need to be advised for course registration. Please visit our “Non-Degree Seeking” site - tntech.edu/ssc/nondegree.php - for more information.
