National Webinar Showcases
ESTAR Sanos and VECTOR outreach programs featured
In April 2023, ESTAR Sanos – Be Healthy and VECTOR, regional outreach programs of the Whitson-Hester School of Nursing at Tennessee Tech, participated in and were showcased during a nationally-accessible webinar hosted by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), the national voice for nursing education.
Externally supported by the AACN and the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH), the ESTAR Sanos and VECTOR programs were highlighted for the programming, progress, increased access to vital health education, and stewardship they have exhibited since their inception in 2020.
Initially, providing health information and support addressing Covid-19 vaccine hesitancy within the rural and Hispanic communities of the Upper Cumberland was the primary goal. The program has been so well received by the community that it has developed supplemental modules in preventive healthcare in a region that exceeds the national averages in diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and other health challenges.
ESTAR Sanos/VECTOR at Tech is one (1) of four (4) institutions/nursing programs that were selected from a group of 10 schools that have received AACN funding. The other webinar participants are Emory University (GA), Loba Linda University (CA), and the University of Missouri.
