For New Freshmen Starting Fall 2025

Presidential Scholars

The Presidential Scholars program offers guaranteed scholarships to new freshmen who meet the minimum requirements and apply for admission by one of the following deadlines. Award amounts are based on which deadline the student meets.

  • Must apply for admission by December 15, 2024
  • Must have graduated from high school in the fall or spring immediately preceding entry to Tech
    • For new freshmen starting in the Fall 2025 semester, this means you must have graduated high school after November 1, 2024.
  • Must have at least a 3.40 High School GPA received by Tech by January 15, 2025
  • Must have at least a 23 ACT Composite score (1130 SAT) received by Tech by January 15, 2025
    • ACT Superscores cannot be used for scholarship eligibility.
  • New ACT scores and high school transcripts can be used to improve scholarship if received by January 15, 2025. No adjustments to scholarships will be made for scores or grades received after that date.

It is renewable for up to four years (eight semesters) as long as student maintains 12 credit hours and has a cumulative 3.0 GPA by the end of the third semester and each semester thereafter.

In order to be considered for additional departmental and/or donor funded scholarships, all students must complete the scholarship application in ScholarWeb by December 15, 2024.

 

Other Scholarships & Grants

For other scholarships and grants listed below, as well as over 700 departmental scholarships, students must complete the scholarship application in ScholarWeb by December 15, 2024.

Recommendation letters, test scores, and transcripts must be submitted no later than January 15, 2025. New scores received after January 15th may not be considered for scholarship purposes.

The scholarships and grants below are competitive and based on funding. Students who qualify may only receive one Admissions scholarship.

The awards detailed below do not necessarily reflect any other possible aid such as federal aid/grants, or other university departmental scholarships.

Golden Opportunity Grant

A four-year institutional need-based grant for incoming freshman who meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien
  • Must have graduated from high school in the fall or spring immediately preceding entry to Tech
    • For new freshmen starting in the Fall 2025 semester, this means you must have graduated high school after November 1, 2024.
  • Priority will be given to students with at least a 3.20 High School GPA received by Tech by January 15, 2025
  • Priority will be given to students with at least a 22 ACT Composite score (1100 SAT) received by Tech by January 15, 2025
    • ACT Superscores cannot be used for scholarship eligibility.
  • Must have submitted 2025-2026 FAFSA received by Tech by January 15, 2025 (may be extended if FAFSA is delayed).

Criteria used for awarding include, but are not limited to, financial need, grade point average, and ACT score.

It is renewable for up to four years (eight semesters) as long as student maintains 12 credit hours, completes 55 academic service hours each semester, and has a 3.00 overall GPA by the end of their third semester at Tech and each semester thereafter. A limited number of these scholarships will be awarded.

Upper Cumberland Valedictorian/Salutatorian Scholarship

A $3,500 per year, scholarship for incoming freshman who meet the following criteria:

  • Must have been designated as the Valedictorian or Salutatorian at an Upper Cumberland public high school
  • Must be a Tennessee resident (in-state residency)
  • Must have graduated from high school in the fall or spring immediately preceding entry to Tech
    • For new freshmen starting in the Fall 2025 semester, this means you must have graduated high school after November 1, 2024.
  • Must have at least a 17 ACT Composite score (1100 SAT) received by Tech by January 15, 2025
    • ACT Superscores cannot be used for scholarship eligibility.

This scholarship is renewable for up to four years (eight semesters) as long as the student maintains continuous full-time enrollment and has a 3.00 overall GPA by the end of their third semester at Tech and each semester thereafter.

Please Note

Students may only receive one of these awards. If a student is eligible for more than one award, they will be offered the greater of the two.

*HOPE & HOPE Merit are in-state awards from the TN Education Lottery Program & the TN General Assembly. These are awarded separately from TN Tech scholarships.

Tennessee Technological University reserves the right to limit scholarship/grant awards if necessary funding is not available.

Any student receiving a combination of lottery scholarships, federal and/or state grants, and institutional or private scholarships or grants cannot receive more than the estimated cost of attendance per year, as determined by the Office of Financial Aid. If the total of all offers exceeds that amount, the scholarship/grant amount will be reduced.
