The Oakley STEM Center offers a variety of programs for kids, families, and the community
throughout the year.
STEM AT HOME
STEM AT HOME is an initiative to provide parents/guardians with STEM activities that can help engaging K-8th students during the current school closures.
Activity documents are separated by themes and can be downloaded at the button below. Simply click on any of the themes and you will have access to the STEM activities for the theme selected.

- Fab Fridays
STEM Fab Friday events are designed to engage families and their children (5th-8th grade) in hands-on STEM activities. During a typical semester, two events are held on Fridays from 5:00–8:00 p.m.
For Fall 2026 and Spring 2027, we are combining both grade bands and transitioning to Super Saturday events. These events will be designed for Pre-K through 8th-grade students and their families.

- STEM Super Saturdays
STEM Super Saturdays are free, Saturday workshops in hands-on science and math for young learners and their families. These interactive programs are age-appropriate for PreK-8th graders and encourage family participation. A parent/guardian must remain with the student/students regardless of age. Safari Saturdays are flexible events, come and go as your family’s schedule allows. Reservations are required; admission is free.

Game On -STEM Super Saturday (PreK-8th) September 19, 2026
Ready to play? Join us for Game On! STEM Super Saturday, a fun-filled morning where sports and STEM come together! Families will explore how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics help athletes train, compete, and improve performance. Through hands-on activities and exciting demonstrations, participants will discover the STEM behind favorite sports, test their own skills, and tackle engineering challenges.
Designed for children in PreK–8th grade and their families, this free event features engaging stations for everyone. Whether you're shooting hoops, racing a ball down a ramp, exploring reaction time, or designing sports equipment, you'll see that STEM is always in the game!
Money Maker$pace -STEM Super Saturday (PreK-8th) November 14, 2026 in collaboration with TN Tech's College of Business
TN Tech College of Business and the Oakley STEM Center will host a Money Maker $pace STEM Super Saturday, November 9th, 9am-noon. Money Maker$pace is a hands-on event for Pre-8th grade to gain knowledge on financial literacy. Financial literacy is the foundation of your relationship with money, and it is a lifelong journey of learning!

Winter Solstice-The Shortest Day of the Year | TBA | 6pm-8pm | FREE
Solstice events are free workshops in hands-on science and math for young learners (PreK-8th graders) and their families that occur twice a year to celebrate the summer and the winter solstice.
Join us for the Shortest Day of the Year Celebration! Enjoy this year's winter solstice while star gazing with telescopes, entering the VR world of Star Wars, and participating on some fun hands-on STEM activities.
A parent/guardian must remain with the student/students regardless of age.
