Honors Housing
Honors Housing in Murphy Hall is now offering custom roommate matching and room placement
for Honors students! In order to receive this benefit, you must be an admitted student
to the TN Tech Honors Program, fill out a Housing Application, and complete the Honors Housing Form by the deadline below! Returning TN Tech Students: February 23, 2026
Incoming First-Year Students: March 25, 2026
Applications submitted after the deadline will be reviewed and considered as room
availability allows.

Murphy Hall
Honors students at Tech can enjoy living in Murphy Hall, where certain floors are set aside specifically for Honors students. Murphy has been fostering community in Honors since 1998 and was renovated in 2017 to include updated flooring, furnishings, laundry facilities, a kitchen, study rooms, a seminar room, a revamped lobby with TV and ping pong, a quiet lounge, a lending library, a meeting room, and outdoor hammock stands.
Room choices include two-person or singles. Check the Residential Life website for rates as well as room layouts, photos, and amenities.
For New Students
Congratulations on your admittance to TN Tech! Moving to campus is an exciting opportunity, and we would love for you to consider Honors housing as a top choice. In order to get access to Honors housing, you must do the following:
- Apply and be admitted to the Honors Program
- Complete the Residential Life Housing Application and list "Murphy Hall" as your first choice. Residential Life has specific deadlines, so be sure to adhere to the ones they list in order to be considered.
- Fill out the Honors Housing Form form by the deadline included above. There, you can request specific rooms or roommates, fill out information to be partnered with a compatible roommate, and notify us about any specific accommodations or additional information to consider. Room and roommate requests are not guaranteed, but we will try our best!
- Sign the Honors Housing Agreement. This is a requirement for all new Murphy Honors-floor residents.

For Returning Honors Students
To maintain top priority for living in the Honors residence hall, you must stay eligible by completing at least one Honors credit-bearing requirement each semester until you fulfill all graduation requirements for in cursu honorum.
If you're currently in Honors Housing or wish to move to Murphy Hall from another residence hall, follow these steps:
- Complete the Residential Life Housing Application and list "Murphy Hall" as your first choice. Residential Life has specific deadlines, so be sure to adhere to the ones they list in order to be considered.
- Fill out the Honors Housing Form form by the deadline included above. There, you can request specific rooms or roommates, fill out information to be partnered with a compatible roommate, and notify us about any specific accommodations or additional information to consider. - If you're new to Murphy Hall's honor floors, sign the Honors Housing Agreement. If not, skip this step!
