On-Campus Orientation Information

The on-campus Transfer Orientation is one-day session and is a wonderful opportunity to become familiar with Tennessee Tech's campus, faculty, staff and students.

During your time on campus you will meet with representatives from Tech’s Financial Aid, Bursar (Business Office), and Scholarship offices to discuss tuition and fees, learn about academic and career resources available to help with your transition to our campus, meet with departmental faculty/staff to discuss your academic plan and opportunities within your program of study, and register for classes.

Sample Agenda

  • Transfer Orientation Check-In begins at 9:00 am central time
    • Pre-Arrival details will be communicated via your campus email once registered.
    • If arriving early, the Swoops Food Court (located on the ground floor of the Roaden University Center) will be open with breakfast options available)
  • Opening Meeting begins at 10:00 am
  • Informational Sessions

  • Academic Department Meeting
  • End of Orientation ~ 4:30 pm

Students may arrange a meeting for transcript review and advisement prior to attending Transfer Orientation.

Please plan to be on campus until 4:30 pm central time. Times may vary depending on academic departments, so we ask students and their guests to plan accordingly.

Before Transfer Orientation

Prior to your on-campus Transfer Orientation session you may be contacted via your Tech campus email (express.tntech.edu) to resolve the following items (or holds) on your account. Each student should resolve these matters prior to their orientation session to prevent any problems with their admittance or course registration.

 Please make sure to review each item carefully.

What to Bring to Transfer Orientation

Item's marked (*) are required to bring to Transfer Orientation. All other items are recommended for students and guests attending an on-campus Transfer Orientation session:

  • *Orientation Parking Pass (available for download & print from your SOAR reminder email)
  • *Required documentation for I-9 Card IF working on campus**
  • Personal face mask (if desired) and hand sanitizer
  • Comfortable clothing
    • Jacket or sweatshirt as auditorium spaces tend to run cold
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Umbrella
  • Pencil/pen
  • Notebook/writing pad
  • Checkbook, credit card, or other payment method (to purchase items; tuition will NOT be paid at this time)
  • Snacks and water (University Bookstore will be open to purchase snacks or drinks, if needed)

 

I-9 Information**

Students that will be working on campus will need to obtain an I-9 card, Employment Eligibility Verification Form. You will not be able to pick up your work assignment or start working until the process is complete. It’s suggested that you complete this process while at orientation so please contact Human Resources at  hr@tntech.edu or at (931) 372-3034 for details on how to complete the I-9 process.
