The Whitson-Hester School of Nursing prepares nurses for the communities that need them — with clinical placements across Middle and East Tennessee, faculty who know every student by name, and five pathways from your first prerequisite to a doctorate. Whether you are starting after high school, changing careers, or already licensed and ready for what's next, there is a route here for you. Our BSN graduates pass the NCLEX-RN on the first attempt at a rate better than 95%.

Programs of Study

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — Traditional Four-Year

Four years on campus, with five semesters of clinical coursework. Clinical admission twice a year.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — 2nd-Degree

Already hold a bachelor's degree? Earn your BSN in 15 months, starting each Maymester.

Registered Nurse to Bachelors (RN-to-BSN) Program

For working RNs with an ADN, ASN or AAS. Fully online, with credit for more than half of your upper-division nursing courses.

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Post-Master's Certificates

Nurse practitioner, nursing education, and nursing administration concentrations, plus an RN-to-MSN bridge.

Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program

The practice doctorate, offered jointly with East Tennessee State University. Six concentrations, online with on-campus intensives.
