Design. Build. Connect.
Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering

From smart devices and embedded systems to computer networks and secure technologies, computer engineers create the systems that power our connected world. At Tennessee Tech, you’ll build expertise in both hardware and software while learning to design, develop and improve computer-based systems for applications across industries.
The department also has an electrical engineering program, with optional concentrations in mechatronics and vehicle engineering.
Program of Study
B.S. Computer Engineering
Computer engineering combines electrical engineering and computer science to prepare you to design the hardware and software behind modern computing systems. You’ll study digital systems, computer architecture, programming, electronics, embedded systems and networks while developing the skills to solve complex engineering problems. Through laboratory, design and project experiences, you’ll learn to take computing technologies from concept to working system.
The B.S. in Computer Engineering offers the following optional concentration to further specialize:
Hardware and System Security Concentration
This concentration explores how computer systems can be designed to withstand cyber threats at the hardware and system levels. You’ll build expertise in hardware design, computer architecture, programming, network protocols and cybersecurity while learning to identify vulnerabilities, implement countermeasures, and design robust systems. Graduates are equipped with skills to design secure hardware systems and mitigate security risks in an interconnected world.
