Notes

2024-2025:  The library building houses other campus departments/offices.  The addition of the Center for Global Experiences in August 2024 may account for some of this extra activity. Most months saw an increase in traffice by a sizeable amount.  The library continues to seem to be a popular gathering place for students studying.

2023-2024: The gate count decreased from last year by over 86,000, most of which occurred in the second half of the year.

2022-2023: Compared to 2021-2022, every month had increased traffic except for December, May, and June. Some of the increases are artificially high due to some gate counter malfunctions in the previous year.

2021-2022: The overall total and each month's traffic was higher than last year. This increased traffic is most likely due to relaxed COVID-19 protocols and behaviors. Summer hours have been shortened permanently due to low traffic. The library now has a public entrance in the back of the building, beginning December 2021. The Keycard entrance data is now obtained directly from ITS.

2020-2021:  Our summer hours were shortened compared to previous years, but regular semester hours remained the same.  Tech's COVID-19 pandemic response included some university classes moving online for the academic year, resulting in fewer students present on campus.  These factors led to a large decrease in library traffic.

2019-2020: The gate count was not installed and functioning until after July 2019.  The gate count was comparable to previous years until COVID-19.  Our campus went to online classes only in March through the rest of the statistics year, which resulted in a drastic reduction in patron traffic at the end of March and all of April, May, and June.

2018-2019: The front entrance was remodeled in July 2018, and the gates were removed as part of this remodel.  A new people counter was installed in Summer 2019, so there are no gate count statistics for the 2018-2019 year.

2017-2018: The gate count decreased every month this year except December. Enrollment decreased at the University as well.

2016-2017: This is our highest gate count despite decreased enrollment. The biggest difference was a large increase in August traffic. The gate did not malfunction significantly this year, so this year's gate count report is much more reliable than last year.

2015-2016: Our gate count increased despite repeated issues with the gate functionality. We are investigating a new counter method to avoid malfunctions in the future. The months of November, February, and March has large increases over previous years.
