Spring 2025 Reporting of LDAs Letter from the Registrar
Thursday, January 23, 2025
Hello! We welcome you back and hope you're settling in well this semester. Complying with federal financial aid regulations is crucial, especially concerning students who never attended or stopped attending your class.
Please confirm that any student who has NOT ATTENDED your course during the SPRING 2025 semester is reported by the 14th class day, January 29, 2025. Students categorized as "NEVER ATTENDED" will be assigned an "NF" grade at the end of the term, along with a last-known date of attendance (LDA) recorded as January 15, 2025.
Also, we would like to ask you to continue reporting on any students who STOP ATTENDING your class at any point during the semester. If you need to report a student who stopped attending post the 14th day, please select "STOPPED ATTENDING" on the "Attendance Reporting" link in Eagle Online. Remember that students who stop attending must still receive a grade at the end of the term unless they officially withdraw from the university. ALL students who cease attending will get an "FA" grade and need a last-known date of attendance (LDA).
When assigning final grades of NF or FA at the end of the semester, it is essential to specify the last known date of attendance (LDA) when entering grades for your course.
Failing to report attendance information can lead to federal compliance problems and obstacles in identifying student success issues. We appreciate your cooperation and thank you for your attention to this matter.

Frequently Asked Questions
- » How do I determine the student's LDA?
There are several ways to determine a student's LDA. Participation is the relevant factor. For example, logging onto iLearn (D2L) alone is not sufficient. Here are some approved examples:
- Physically attending a class where instruction was offered.
- Submitting an academic assignment.
- Taking an exam, completing an interactive tutorial, or participating in computer-assisted instruction.
- Attending a study group that the school assigns.
- Participating in an online discussion about academic matters.
- Initiating contact with a faculty member to ask a question about the academic subject studied in the course.
- » What if a student never attended my class but is still on my grade roster?
Students who never attended or participated in your class will be assigned a grade of "NF" and will need the "Never Attended" box checked on the grade roster.
- » Why doesn't Eagle Online (SSB) accept my LDA?
LDA must be entered in this format: MM/DD/YYYY.
LDA must be between the first day of your course and the last day of your course. - » Do I need to record LDA for all grades?
No, you must record the LDA only for NF and FA grades.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter. Please don't hesitate to contact our office with any questions or concerns.
