About 2+2

Elementary School student active learningThe convenience of the 2+2 Program allows students pursuing a bachelor's degree to complete the first 60 credit hours at their local community college, then transfer to Tech and complete the remaining 60 credit hours (courses conducted by Tech faculty), still at the community college site.

The program is cohort-based*, beginning each fall semester. Coursework schedules are pre-determined for each site and scheduled as full-time for each term.
*A cohort is the group of students who begin and complete the program together.

Application and Admission Requirements for 2+2

To be eligible to participate in the 2+2 program a student must complete the following processes:

STEP 1: Apply online to Tennessee Tech University's Admissions Office, submit a Final High School transcript, Official College transcript, and a $25 application fee.

STEP 2: Submit an online 2+2 Intent to Participate Form by Priority Deadline MARCH 1 with unofficial transcripts.

STEP 3: Complete the requirements for admission to the Teacher Education Program - see below for contact information and personal assistance.

Please wait until you are contacted by the Office of Teacher Education to complete the Interview Request form.

STEP 4: Completion of Associate of Science in Teaching (AST) degree or Associate of Science general transfer degree requirements.

If you are NOT earning an Associate of Science in Teaching (AST) degree from your community college, please contact an advisor in the College of Education & Human Sciences' Student Success Center to confirm coursework completion.


2+2 Annual Application Deadline: March 1 Intent to Participate

Students must submit the Intent to Participate Application before starting the coming fall semester.

Upon Acceptance Into the Program

Once a candidate has been accepted to the program, attendance for the 2+2 Orientation at the Tech main campus in Cookeville will be required.

This event typically takes place in mid to late August. The purpose 2+2 Orientation is to allow teacher candidates to register for coursework, have their Eagle Card (student ID) made, purchase textbooks, meet with their advisor, and much more!
