PEK is a national, professional fraternity for those interested in Exercise Science and related careers.
Zeta Psi is committed to serving student peers, the department, profession, and the community. Our members participate in service projects, sponsorship events, awareness forums, and more. There is also a departmental award presented for PEK leadership.
Zeta Psi bases membership on upstanding character, good grades, positive attitude and high personal, professional, and moral standards.

At Tennessee Tech, the Zeta Psi chapter was founded on November 7, 2009, with 18 students and two (2) faculty members. Since then, the chapter has remained active with initiation(s) once or twice per year. The motto for the Fraternity is “Friendship Hath Power.”
The Phi Epsilon Kappa Fraternity is a national, professional, honorary fraternity that was founded in 1913 originally for individuals engaged in the field of Physical Education. Starting at the Normal College of the American Gymnastics Union in Indianapolis Indiana, 14 students became charter members of the Fraternity. In 1917, the Fraternity applied for and received a charter as a non-profit organization under laws of the state of Indiana, and in 1920, the Fraternity went national.
Membership into Phi Epsilon Kappa Fraternity was limited to males until March of 1975, when the National Council voted unanimously to extend membership to women. Fraternity membership has since expanded to include individuals engaged in or pursuing careers in kinesiology-related fields such as health, physical education, recreation, dance, human performance, exercise science, athletic training, sport administration and management, and sport studies.
Applications & Initiations
Completed applications must be received by Dr. Killman no later than one (1) week prior to the announced initiation ceremony. Applications submitted after that time will be pushed to the following semester.
Fall 2026: September 22 at 6pm
Spring 2027: February 23 at 6pm

Initiation
Zeta Psi intends to have initiation in both fall and spring semesters.
There is a formal initiation ceremony where new members pledge the PEK oath.
Persons eligible for membership are undergraduate, graduate students, and faculty in the Department of Exercise Science.
Criteria
Declared major and concentration in Exercise Science
Minimum GPA of 3.0 overall
Minimum 60 hours completed in undergraduate program
Active membership in the Exercise Science Major’s Club
Satisfactory on the Fitness Test
Dues
New members select a membership plan according to their anticipated time remaining at Tennessee Tech. Initiation and membership fees must be paid during the semester of initiation (see below for fee breakdown).
