Applying for Aid Every Year
Applying for financial aid involves a series of simple tasks that you must complete each year if you intend to continue using financial aid while enrolled. These tasks, including submitting your FAFSA and University Scholarship application, can all be completed online.
IMPORTANT: Please check your Tennessee Tech student email account regularly for updates from
our office concerning FAFSA requirements and other aid-specific information. You can
also check your Eagle Online account to view your FAFSA requirements by selecting
Financial Aid - Eligibility.
What do you need to do?
1) Fill out the online University Scholarship Application, which becomes available every year on August 1st and closes on December 15th for first-time freshman and returning students for the next term, while incoming transfer and graduate students have until May 1st to complete and submit the application. If you receive University Scholarships, you must complete the application each year to continue receiving them. Therefore, mark the December 15th deadline in your calendars and make sure you complete the application as soon as it becomes available!
2) Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on studentaid.gov for every year you plan on attending. Remember to put Tennessee Tech's School Code on your FAFSA when prompted—our code is 003523!
Processing time may vary, but normally it takes our office 7-10 business days to receive submitted FAFSA applications and then another four weeks to process them. Once received, we will receive send you an email confirmation that includes information regarding next steps and what additional documentation we may need from you to successfully process your application and post your aid package. The forms we may request from you are available on our Forms page, and is available to submit electronically through Documentation Upload on Eagle Online or by emailing the forms to us at financialaid@tntech.edu. When emailing FAFSA documentation to us, make sure you submit the documentation using your official Tech email address!
