Faculty & Staff Awards
The Faculty Awards Program was established in 1975 by the College of Business Administration Foundation, now known as the College of Business Advisory Board, to recognize outstanding contributions to business education by the faculty of the College of Business at Tennessee Tech University. Over the next several years the faculty awards were broaden to include the addition of the Outstanding Staff Award and the Excellence in Service Award. All College of Business faculty and staff are invited to make nominations for the categories listed below. Students are not eligible to submit award nominations, but may provide letters of support.
Selection of the award recipients will be made by the College of Business Advisory Board Award Selection Committee. The awards will be presented at the College of Business Faculty & Staff End of Year reception in the spring.
Nomination Procedures
To nominate an individual for an award please include the following in your submission:
- A completed nomination form
- A cover letter of no more than 4 pages
- Supporting documentation such as professional activities as submitted by the faculty from the nominee's most recent annual evaluation period
- Relevant teaching evaluations from the evaluation period
All nominations are due by 12:00 PM, Monday, April 14, 2025.
- » The Award for Excellence in Overall Performance
This award is presented to the faculty member who makes the greatest overall contribution in all areas of evaluation. The recipient will receive a plaque and a $1,000 award funded by private support. The 2023-2024 winner is not eligible to receive the award in 2024-2025.
- » The Kinslow Award for Excellence in Teaching
This award is presented to the faculty member who makes the greatest contribution in the area of teaching excellence. The recipient will receive a plaque and a $1,000 award funded by an endowment established in 1984 by friends and the husband of Mrs. Curtis Kinslow. Mrs. Curtis Kinslow was a former Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Business Education in the College of Business. She was the first woman to serve as a departmental chairperson and the first woman to hold the rank of full professor in the College of Business at Tennessee Tech. The 2023-2024 winner is not eligible to receive the award in 2024-2025.
- » The Jordan-Wagner Award for Excellence in Research
This award is presented to the faculty member who makes the greatest contribution in the area of research excellence. The annual award was permanently endowed by Drs. James and Dianne Jordan-Wagner. Dr. James Jordan-Wagner served as Dean of the College of Business from 2008 until 2013. The recipient will receive a plaque and a $1,000 award. The 2023-2024 winner is not eligible to receive the award in 2024-2025.
- » The Outstanding Staff Award
This award is presented to the staff member who makes the greatest overall contribution in all areas of evaluation. To be considered for this award, a nominee must be a permanent (non-faculty) staff member employed by the College of Business for a minimum of two years prior to the nomination deadline. Nominees may be classified as professional, administrative or clerical staff, or maintenance. The recipient will receive a plaque and a $1,000 award funded by private support. The 2023-2024 winner is not eligible to receive the award in 2024-2025.
- » The Faculty Excellence in Service Award
This award is presented to a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in service to his/her department, the college, the university, the profession, the community, and/or the nation thereby enhancing the image of their department and the College of Business. A nominee must be a permanent faculty member employed by the College of Business for a minimum of five years prior to the nomination deadline. The recipient will receive a plaque and a $1,000 award funded by private support. The 2023-2024 winner is not eligible to receive the award in 2024-2025.
- » The Staff Excellence in Service Award
This award is presented to a staff member who has demonstrated excellence in service to his/her department, the college, the university, the profession, the community, and/or the nation thereby enhancing the image of their department and the College of Business. A nominee must be a permanent staff member employed by the College of Business for a minimum of five years prior to the nomination deadline. The recipient will receive a plaque and a $1,000 award funded by private support. The 2023-2024 winner is not eligible to receive the award in 2024-2025.
